Goat Bridge planting – River Wandle
September 14 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
FreeWork is underway at Goat Bridge on the river Wandle to lower a 1.6m weir, improve the river channel through the installation of berms and create a new flood storage area and wetland habitat.
This project will enhance 500m of chalk stream habitat and make this section of the river passable to fish so that they can access different parts of the river for food, refuge and spawning.
You can read more about the project here: Goat Bridge – South East Rivers Trust
The final stage of this project is planting the newly installed berms, which have narrowed the river channel to create a more natural width and shape.
A selection of native plants will be planted, and once established they will help to stabilise the berms and support the diverse range of wildlife that calls the Wandle home.
We will provide all necessary tools and equipment.
